For those who have had the opportunity to visit or live in and around Westcliffe, Colorado the Sangre Barns will be a recognizable landmark.  Dix Baines fell in love with these barns twelve years ago when he first participated in the Arts for the Sangre Invitational Art Show. They speak of a different time and are beautiful in there simplicity.  Dix has explored them again and again in different lights, formats and sizes.  The first of the three new paintings, “Late Light”, a piece that was just delivered to the Hayden Hays Gallery located on The Broadmoor Hotel property, is a view of the barns in the light of late day. “Twins of Westcliffe” is early morning light and “Passing Rain” shows the barns after the passing of a storm.
