“A spectacular trip (to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison)….it took 3587 steps to walk out of the river bottom back up to the rim….and yes we counted.  Needless to say that kind of left an impression of images I have plans to create. Studies are warm-ups for such larger pieces”. —-DIX BAINES—-

“I have been commissioned over the course of a year to capture the season’s at the Gateway Canyons Resort, in particular the views of the Palisade, a dominate formation that overlooks this property…” —–Dix Baines—–Thus begun a year long commission (2007-2008) where Dix painted approximately 40 paintings, most of which were purchased by and hung at the property.  Dix Baines fell in love with the land and to this day continues to explore images he captured there.
