"ORANGE ADOBE"

SOLD

As a former Project Designer for a prominent Interior Design firm, Dix Baines often finds himself drawn to architecture. Adobe churches have an added draw, when thinking of the history they have seen and the hands of faith that have touched them. -KATHLYN GOGARTY-BAINES

"GATEWAY TO THE WEST"

SOLD

After spending a year working on commissions for Gateway Canyons (Gateway, Colorado), which required Dix Baines to be on location for a week in each season, this land will always hold a special place in his heart.  He wrote about the land in his journal:  “It is important for me to celebrate the untouched look of the land and the range of emotions that it inspires – from lone an dreary, stormy and turbulent, to illuminated and even magical. Painting landscapes is as much a feeling as a visual experience and, hence, the challenge of capturing the light.” – DIX BAINES

"SUBTLE RISE"

SOLD

“On a recent fishing trip to the Green River, we were treated to many big and beautiful fish.”  – DIX BAINES

"CODY AFTERNOON"

SOLD

“A beautiful day for painting; nothing like the western golden hour.”  – DIX BAINES

"GOLDEN LIGHT ON GOLDEN CHURCH" 5x7 oil $200

“This beautiful adobe is a classic. Located in Golden, New MExico, it has been renovated to it’s original buff color. I still like this white wash look, as it appeared the first I saw her. This complimentary monochromatic, features the warm snow of a winter day.”  – DIX BAINES

"GOLD RUSH"

SOLD

“Colorado is so spectacular!  The blue and gold  that I scramble up to in an annual ‘Gold Rush’ of autumn ” – DIX BAINES
